The Siluan are short and light by human standards. They have black hair, and skin in shades of dark red, brown, and black. They are highly adaptable and can be found living in a wide range of inhospitable environments. Siluan prefer to avoid brightly lit conditions on account that it impairs their vision, but their eyes adjust given time. The Siluan see well in the dark but their vision is still limited to the visible spectrum.
The Siluan have remarkable regenerative abilities and quickly recover from illness or injury. Provided they avoid accidental death, they are believed to be immortal.
Markings
About ten percent of the siluan population exhibits aspects of chimerism, usually in the form of cutaneous mosaicism. Examples of the patterning are given below. Siluans often use makeup or tattoos to enhance existing markings or to emulate those considered more attractive.
Language
The Siluan generally speak a dielect of Shen, which is surprisingly consistent between the worlds of Silureh and Rochak.
Religion - Erw Osh Otsothe
The rather bleak spiritual portion of the Siluan world-view holds that all living things contain an essence or spirit. Upon death, this spirit is released to indirectly act upon the world. The spirits of thinking creatures in particular become non-thinking beasts, intent only on creating more of their type by causing misery and death. At some unknown time in the distant future, all life will have been extinguished and only the spirits will remain.
Kinship
Because of the near total lack of cohesive family life, the Siluan have a very limited concept of kinship. That being said, they do memorize their lineage from both parental lines and avoid having children when there are known common ancestors. The Siluan also have no consistent pattern of inheritance.

When living among other races in less lethal environments, the Siluan tend to take on the kinship and inheritance patterns of those cultures.
Gender Roles
If presented with the concept of proscribed gender roles a Siluan would be completely baffled. The Siluan don't make any distinction of gender outside of parenthood.
