Nashaal
Nashaal is a belief system followed almost exclusively by the Shi.
The Nashaal beliefs are codified in three texts; the Loko Osh Otswmo (book of the dead), the Loko Osh Myrw (book of life), and the Loko Osh Katsw (book of the future). These three texts are usually combined into a single, untitled volume.
Loko Osh Otswmo
The Loko Osh Otswmo is a book of myths detailing how Tw Shule (the evil one) captured all the races of the world and imprisoned them, with the Shi being his favored agents. When the other gods discovered the plans of Tw Shule there was an apocalyptic battle in which the Shi were cast down from the skies, and Tw Shule destroyed himself along with the other gods and all of heaven.
Loko Osh Myrw
The Loko Osh Myrw is a book of rules governing an individual's behavior. It includes sections on proper construction and wearing of clothing, food preparation and dietary restrictions, property rights and dispute resolution, and restrictions on courtship and marriage.
Loko Osh Katsw
The Loko Osh Katsw is a short, philosophical work that is meant to guide an individual's way of thinking. Of all the three texts, the Loko Osh Katsw is the most likely to be published on its own.
Public Works
Over the past few hundred years the practitioners of Nashal have been increasingly associated with charity and construction for the benefit of the public. In major cities are public houses known for providing food, clothing, and shelter to the needy. In some desert areas they have built massive, protected wells and large oases where food is grown and given away to visitors.
The motivation for this work generally traces back to an individual who observed fruit trees growing by the side of the road. She realized the trees were the unintentional result of discarded seeds, and from that observation developed a philosophy of making small, positive changes for the betterment of all beings.
